National Historical Moment - Tiny Pleasure

A temporary micro ecosystem born: Construction workers are constantly present day & night; Scrappers help demolition of smaller bricks and sell metal scraps for pennies; Entertainment for any curious citizens to ease their daily grind;

Police & militia gained a sense of extra importance; Artists, journalists, tiktoker, historians, social researchers equally trying to preserve take advantage of the moment.

A Cog In The Wheel

After 30 years of fierce protest, the entire 3km of road was eventually cleared in record time (2 weeks). Few families were forcefully vacated, leaving everything they own behind under the mess, even family albums and personal clothing items.

My family has lived here since 1990s. Though the house wasn’t affected, our common village gate was demolished along with the decade old banyan tree growing on it.

Documentation

This moment reminds us of the impermanence and insignificance of one. How susceptible to change are we. How we say we stands for one thing only for it to be altered the next day.
